Systems Certification Body (SCB), an IAPMO company, is pleased to announce it has been accredited by the ANSIASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to issue certification to AS 9100D, Quality Management Systems Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations.

The AS 9100 standard represents a comprehensive set of benchmarks toward a quality management system for the manufacture of safe and reliable products by the aerospace industry, and also addresses civil and military aviation requirements. It is utilized by companies that design, develop, and/or produce aviation, space and defense products, as well as organizations providing postdelivery support, including the provision of maintenance, spare parts, or materials, for their own products.

AS 9100 is endorsed by all major aerospace regulators, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

SCB is one of only two certification bodies in California to be accredited by ANAB to provide this service to the host of aerospace industry companies using the AS 9100D standard.

“For more than a decade, SCB has provided manufacturers and service providers with a fast, customerfriendly, transparent, and reliable option for certification to the ISO 9001 quality management systems standard,” said Shirley Dewi, IAPMO Senior Vice President of Management Systems Registration Services. “We are excited to now offer AS 9100 certification to the aerospace industry and look forward to partnering with new clients toward their continuous improvement efforts and providing valueadded audits.

Initially released as AS 9000 in 1997, the standard was developed in response to aerospace suppliers who noted that ISO 9001 didn’t address requirements specific to their customers. AS 9100 Revision D was released in 2016, aligning the structure of the aviation, space, and defense requirements with ISO 9001:2015.

“SCB’s Management Registration Services expertise goes far beyond the plumbing and mechanical industry on which it was built,” said Dave Viola, IAPMO Chief Operating Officer. “Our highlyqualified and attentive staff are ready and able to help our aerospace industry clients achieve this invaluable certification in an efficient, professional manner.
